Visualization and Reporting
Founders of pmOne AG have been interested in the topic of Information Design for years, which led to the subject becoming central to the services the company provides. Information Design promotes effective communication of information e.g. in a number-oriented report, independently of the media that is used (e.g. paper, Excel, interactive Dashboards).
Improvements in Information Design can be achieved through participation in training courses and workshops where design choices are reviewed, discussed, and enhanced. Achieving these goals leads to better reporting, as well as an improved user experience and overall enhancement in the quality of information available to the business.
Modern Visualization Methods
Advantages and disadvantages of most types of modern visualization methods are discussed with concrete examples. The visualization team at pmOne AG includes experts with years of experience in the topic, as well as people with experience working in different environments like Excel and Microsoft’s Reporting Services, who understand the technical requirements and amount of effort/expense involved with visualizing data effectively in a particular environment. The result is not a paper draft – results are applied directly to deliver improvements in reporting.
In many cases a design review results in a “Corporate Information Design Guideline”, a standardized design for reporting throughout the organization. This helps ensure consistency in reporting from one department to the next.
Like a map, which is readable immediately because of adherence to well-known standards, reports based on company-wide standards are also more readable and easier to understand. The standards define colors (e.g. for locations or product groups) as well as additional conventions for settings and formatting.
